In the Nordics the payment part is solved: Swish and MobilePay move money instantly. The hard part is figuring out who owes what. Here is the smooth version of both halves.
The two-step problem
Step one is math: who had what, what was shared, what does everyone owe. Step two is money: actually sending it.
Swish and MobilePay only handle step two. Pair them with a splitting tool and the whole thing takes about a minute.
The flow that works
One person pays the restaurant and photographs the receipt. Everyone else opens the split link, taps their items, and sees their share update live.
The payer adds their Swish number or MobilePay handle to the split. Each person gets a pay button with their exact amount, straight into the payment app they already have.
Keep the numbers fixed
Once everyone has picked their items, lock the split. A locked split means the amounts stop moving, so the number someone paid is the number that was owed.
The digital receipt stays available afterwards, which settles any 'wait, what did I pay for?' questions the next morning.
